The One Night Stand (The Players #3)
By Elizabeth Hayley

This is my first book by author Elizabeth Hayley and overall I enjoyed the book. This is the 3rd book in the Players Series and is the story of Gabe and Rachel.

Gabe is a recently retired baseball player and has inherited the Players club that is top secret and NO ONE can know about it. He has found that it is more of a burden than anything else and is truly regretting agreeing to run it.

Rachel is an investigative Sports Reporter for All Access Sports. She has been investigating a story of this exclusive club and so far she has had nothing but dead ends. Her boss finally caught wind of it existing so he sends her to Philadelphia to dig up the story.

Rachel and Gabe knew each other back in college and Gabe has always had a thing for her. Rachel thought he was to much of a player back then so she didn’t take him seriously. They run into each other at a Super Bowl party and hook up for one night of fun. While Rachel is in Philly she runs into Gabe again and she sees this as maybe him helping her get the story.

I liked this story for the most part. It took me a while to get into it though. The story just dragged for me for most of the book. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it just really took me a while to get into the story. I was a little sad because I really liked the author’s writing. The book is well written and I felt that the characters were very well developed. It was an interesting plot but again with it dragging out it made the ending feel a little to rushed so it was almost anticlimactic for me.

This is a standalone (I haven’t read the previous 2 but I am intrigued enough to check out Jace and Ben’s story) but is part of a series. I liked the author’s writing enough that I will check out the previous books in the series. I am just hoping that they don’t drag as much as this one did.

Overall, I give this more of a 3.75 because of the slow pace and the quick ending. If you are looking for a well written book, with interesting characters this would be a great one to check out.
