*** BOOK REVIEW : BARRELED OVER BY JENNA SUTTON ***

3 stars

Barreled Over is the first book I have read by author Jenna Sutton and it was cute.

I enjoyed the premise of the book, Mega Country Star partnering with up and coming Bourbon Distillery for marketing purposes. (I am summarizing the blurb). Ava Grace is the beautifully talented and sweet singer and Jonah Beck is the CEO of Trinity Distillery.

Overall, this was an okay book. I have to say that I didn’t like that for the entire book the author refers to the main characters by their names over and over and over and over. It was Ava Grace thought this, or Ava Grace thought that… it really distracted me from the book. I felt that it threw the book off for me. I really wanted to love this book, but I just personally didn’t care much for the writing style of the author.

Also, The characters both were a little to back and forth for me. I like a strong character and I can see where the author was trying to go to give us a new take on a new type of male lead.. but it didn’t work for me. (Again, this is my opinion). He was way to insecure for me to find him believable to be dominant in bed.

I think that the plot was great and there was hardly any angst. The secondary characters were good, and there was some good banter here and there. It was hard for me to rate this one, I don’t by any means hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I found myself checking the clock a lot while I was trying to finish it up. It was cute, and if you are looking for a cute low angst beta male then I think this would be worth checking out.
