I really enjoyed this book. This was my first read by Jessica Prince and I don’t plan for it to be my last either.
This was about Daphne and Caleb. Daphne was done with love. After discovering that her fiance’ was sleeping with her mother, Daphne is done with love. She is just going to go about her life and when she needs to she will hook up with someone but love isn’t going to play a part in her life ever again. Caleb has spent his whole cleaning up after his parents and if that is what love it about then he doesn’t want a single thing to do with it. He just goes from woman to woman and makes no longer term commitments as he wants nothing to do with Love.
This book was really good. Both of the characters make no apologies for the love them and leave them mentality they have. They have been burned in different ways and want nothing to do with love. They meet in a bar one night and hook up, since then Daphne felt that she was broken as Caleb (They don’t know their names) was the best she has ever had. She is at work (she works on a radio show) and then in walks the man who has “broken” her.. but he looks at her like he has never seen her before. Caleb just wants to get to know this beautiful woman, until she shoots him a look of disgust. Then it clicks… he has slept with her.. he just forgot, what comes next is hilarious. The banter with all the characters especially with Daphne and Caleb were spot on and had me laughing out loud. I really liked how strong the characters were and that they were comfortable with who they are. Both characters are damaged but honestly, they can’t get enough of each other.
The flow of the book was great, I consumed the entire thing in a night and it left me wanting more. the character development was good, I think we meet these characters in a time in their lives where they are sure of them selves and what they want out of life, so it was nice to see them cope with things that come up and what to do when life throws speed bumps in your path.
I can’t wait to catch up on the other’s stories and I am really looking forward to Deacon and Fiona. 🙂 (I love these characters names by the way) 5 star read!!
